With a vision to empower farmers and enhance their income, Mr. Navied Mirza designed an innovative solution - a larger cage measuring 20x20x7 meters which allowed for the culture of more profitable species like IMC, Common Carp, Rohu, Katla, Amur Carp, Grass Carp, and more. With approval from the fisheries department, this new cage was installed for the first time in Buka Dam (Korba-Chhattisgarh), resulting in increased income not only for himself but also for other fishermen in the area.

The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India is implementing Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana – A scheme to bring about Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible development of fisheries sector in India at an estimated investment of Rs. 20050 crores for holistic development of fisheries sector including welfare of fishers. PMMSY is being implemented in all the States and Union Territories for a period of 5 years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25.
PMMSY is designed to address critical gaps in the fisheries value chain from fish production, productivity and quality to technology, post-harvest infrastructure and marketing. It aims to modernize and strengthen the value chain, enhance traceability and establish a robust fisheries management framework while simultaneously ensuring the socio-economic welfare of fishers and fish farmers.
The scheme provides financial assistance in terms of subsidy to develop fishing infrastructure like fishing harbors, fish landing centers, fish markets, fish feed plants, fish seed farms, and fish processing units.
Inputs for fresh water Aquaculture including Composite fish culture, Scampi, Pangasius, Tilapia etc. Project Cost Rs. 4.00 Lakh/Hectare (Subsidy will be limited to 40% of the project cost for General Category and 60% of the project cost for ST/SC/ Women Beneficiary.
